Shelby Township Art Fair

Mark your calendar for August 14 & 15, 2021 to stop by the Shelby Township’s River bends Park for the 38th Annual Shelby Township Art Fair. In addition to seeing some fabulous art from national, regional and local artists and artisans, this event features a variety of crafts as well as products from Michigan based businesses and family-friendly entertainment.

Bring the family for a day filled with activities and entertainment, and bring home a special piece of art, a hand-made item, product, or a souvenir from your visit.

Entry is FREE and this new location has lots of free parking and a shuttle bus that travels between River Bends and Woodall Parks, so you won’t have a long walk back to your car with all of the treasures you found at the fair.

This event is presented by the Shelby Township Art Fair Committee, hosted by the Shelby Township Parks, Recreation and Maintenance Department and is supported by our generous sponsors.

The Fair will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on
the Village Green in downtown Pentwater, Michigan.

The Fair is a juried art fair. All work must be original and of the artist’s own creation. Painting, ceramics, jewelry, photography, weaving, clothing, sculpture and other media will be available.

47th Annual Island Art Fair

Mid Michigan’s second longest running art fair is back in 2021. Saturday July 31st from 9am-4pm. Join us on the island for an exciting day of shopping with over 100 vendors. All artists, crafters and authors are local Michiganders and all product is handmade. Celebrate the beautiful weather with us surrounded by water in Grand Ledge, MI 48837.

ArtPrize®

ArtPrize® is an open, independently organized international art competition which takes place all throughout downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. It celebrates artists working in all mediums from anywhere in the world, and is open to any creative with an artwork to enter and a venue willing to host it.

For 18 days, the work of 1000+ artists will be exhibited in over 130 venues throughout the city in public parks and museums, in galleries and vacant storefronts, in bars and on bridges. ArtPrize awards $450,000 directly to artists, through grants to support their ambitious work and through prizes which the public decides through the ArtPrize mobile app.

Artwork will be available for purchase through our online auction platform or direct purchase from the artists. There are no seller fees associated with our platform, guaranteeing all proceeds go directly to the artists. More details on purchasing artwork will be found at our website ArtPrize.org in the weeks prior to and throughout the event. 

The event will run September 16 – October 3, 2021. Street parking, parking garages, and parkings lots will all be available for those coming in vehicles. Otherwise, visitors can make use of public transportation as needed.

47th Annual Richland Art Fair

Free entrance! Socially distanced outdoor show with onsite parking. Juried artists from all over Michigan will display their artwork and fine crafts for sale. From jewelry to pottery, paintings to metal work and home decor items, there will be something for everyone in every price range.
Try the raffle, where $2 buys a chance to win artwork donated by the artists. Lunch is available from Galesburg Meat Co. Catering. Gull Meadow Farms will be offering delicious snack items, including sundaes made from their famous donuts.
This is a fundraiser for the Gull Lake Area Community Volunteers, who help local families in need by providing children with coats and snow pants in the fall, and food, toiletries, clothing and a toy in December. Over 600 received assistance last year. Shop for beautiful handmade items and support a good cause!

Rockford’s Art in the Park

Rockford’s Art in the Park is back for 2021! The annual event will feature 50-60 Michigan artists showing a variety of art for sale including jewelry, pottery, paintings, photography, pastels, woodwork, home décor, baskets, quilts, sculpture, stained glass and garden art.

2021 Printer’s Row Art Fest

The fair is the evolution of SOFA – Sculpture Objects Functional Art. MAD will present a recorded virtual tour led by Curator of Collections Samantha De Tillio of the

exhibition Beth Lipman: Collective Elegy, followed by a live question and answer session with

Samantha and Beth. For more than twenty years, Lipman has transformed glass, metal, clay,

video, and photographs into powerful statements addressing mortality, temporality, identity, and

excess.

Curator of Post-War and Contemporary Glass, Susie Silbert, will lead a live tour of the recently reinstalled Contemporary Art + Design Galleries of The Corning Museum of Glass.

Craft, Cocktails & Conversation will be an evening of dialogue that joins art, design, and craftsmanship across practices with a well-known mixologist, an artist from the UrbanGlass community, and Devin Mathis, Executive Director of UrbanGlass. Our mixologist will be creating a custom cocktail for a drinking vessel designed by our studio artist. While drinks are being prepared, the artist will demonstrate the making of this particular vessel from the UrbanGlass studio. In the midst of this, the three of us will discuss the interdisciplinary nature of making in all forms.

program located along an interdunal wetland in Saugatuck, Michigan.

Artist in Residence – Milwaukee-based artist Kate Klingbeil joins Faythe Levine, director of the

Arts/Industry program at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Sheboygan, WI, to discuss her

foundry residency and the role of the celebrated program. Hundreds of artists have benefited from

the Arts/Industry residency program since its beginning in 1974. The program, undoubtedly one of

the most unusual ongoing collaborations between art and industry in the United States, was

conceived and is administered by the John Michael Kohler Arts Center and hosted by Kohler Co.

The Ed Paschke Art Center (EPAC)

The Ed Paschke Art Center’s permanent collection space features the paintings, works on paper

and sculpture of legendary Chicago artist Ed Paschke. Highlights include a fascinating peek

inside Ed Paschke’s Howard Street studio, featuring all original items, unfinished art works, and

includes an audio clip of the studio sounds and the nearby Chicago L.

The Chicago Public Schools

The Chicago Public Schools Advanced Arts Program is pleased to showcase original works from

students in different classes. Students from our Drawing and Painting course will be displaying

original works that reflect their sustained inquiries into thematic or process-based questions.

Students from Creative Arts and Ceramics will create a mobile based upon the work of Alexander

Calder and Sarah Sze.

Crafting the Future

Crafting the Future works to diversify the fields of art, craft and design by connecting BIPOC

Intersect Chicago (formerly SOFA, Sculpture Objects Functional Art), November 6-12, 2020 online-only, the largest and oldest of the three fairs, takes place annually at Chicago’s Navy Pier, and focuses on three-dimensional artworks that cross the boundaries of fine art, decorative art, fiber arts, and design. It has been running since 1993.

Intersect Palm Springs (formerly Art Palm Springs), May 13 – 16, 2021, which traditionally has occurred in conjunction with Modernism Week at the Palm Springs Convention Center, presents post-war and contemporary art and has been running since 2012.

Intersect is a partnership of brothers Tim and Dirk von Gal, who are event industry veterans with more than 50 years of combined experience creating successful trade shows and conferences for business, consumer, and art industry sectors. The three fairs had been under the umbrella of Tim von Gal’s former company Urban Expositions (founded in 1995), which was acquired by Clarion in 2015. The von Gal brothers’ launch of Intersect in April 2020 brings the fairs back under their management once again. Intersect is part of vGMgt LLC, which is a team of dedicated professionals focused on customer service, integrity, and the experiential value of Intersect Art and Design.

Managing Director Becca Hoffman, who joined Intersect Art and Design in April 2020, was the Director of the Outsider Art Fair from 2013 – 2020, and was formerly the director of Peter Findlay Gallery, and Andrew Edlin Gallery. Hoffman received her B.A. in Fine Art Photography from Dartmouth where she helped start the first student art gallery and worked at the Hood Museum of Art. From there, Hoffman achieved her M.A. in Contemporary Art at Sotheby’s in London.

Clinton Township Festival of the Senses – CANCELED!

This two day art festival continues to celebrate all mediums and forms of art. The show features the work of artists throughout Michigan and beyond. While shopping for one of a kind art pieces, patrons can also enjoy the various entertainment, participate in children’s activities, tour the historical buildings or taste the delicious samplings from one of our local restaurants.
The Festival of the Senses runs from 10:00am-5:00pm on Saturday and Sunday
