The Other Art Fair Brooklyn

Join us for the 15th edition of The Other Art Fair Brooklyn, presented by Saatchi Art, during New York Art Week from May 8–11, 2025, at ZeroSpace in Gowanus, Brooklyn (337-345 Butler St, Brooklyn, NY 11217).
Known for being the antidote to the traditional, often intimidating art fair, The Other Art Fair values accessibility and inclusivity. Unlike the gallery-centric fairs, it provides a platform where collectors can connect directly with over 125 groundbreaking artists. The fair emphasizes transparency by listing all the prices, in turn making art more approachable and affordable for everyone.
This year’s edition will feature a diverse range of work, with a particular focus on documentary photography, embroidery, and illustration, reflecting the creative variety of the exhibitors’ practices. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover and collect unique art from emerging artists in a welcoming and engaging atmosphere.
Special Experiences:
Portrait Session by Anna Marie Tendler: Visitors can book a portrait styled by artist and New York Times bestselling author, Anna Marie Tendler, set against a lush tableau inspired by her acclaimed photography series, Rooms in the First House. Guests can also purchase her memoir Men Have Called Her Crazy.

The Gift of Life: Art for a Life-Saving Match

Attention art enthusiasts and philanthropists!

We are thrilled to announce an extraordinary art show that combines creativity, community, and a noble cause. Join us for an unforgettable evening filled with stunning artwork, live painting, delectable food, and a mission to find a kidney donor.

This art show is a celebration of talent featuring over 20 incredible artists from various backgrounds and styles. From mesmerizing paintings to breathtaking photography, this event promises to ignite your imagination and leave you inspired.

Adding to the excitement, we have invited two talented live painters who will create masterpieces right before your eyes. Witness their artistic process unfold in real-time, as they transform blank canvases into stunning works of art.

But, this event is not just about art; it’s about making a difference in someone’s live. We are working to raise awareness for an individual, Vy Tran, as he is in his late stages of kidney failure and is in desperate need of a hero donor.

About Vy Tran:
Just before the pandemic hit I was diagnosed with end stage renal disease, essentially my kidneys stopped working. I’ve been on dialysis for the past 3 years or so and am currently on the transplant list (which can take years to find a donor). It’s been a very rough road till this point and a lot of it has to do with the physical and mental changes that come with all of this. But as of right now, I am in a good place and I am pushing forward as best I can.

On the bright side, my transplant surgeon says I’m a good candidate for a donor kidney but no amount of surgery will change my personality.

In addition to the mission, we are also giving back to the community and to the artists. As the holidays are closely approaching, booth space was provided free of charge to the artists allowing them to showcase their work with no overhead. As a gift to the community, food will be provided to attendees at no charge by Ruchi Bangladeshi during the duration of the show (while supplies last-food arrives at ~2:30pm) .

The Creative’s Monday

Creative Monday with Text #TeamMonday

The Creative’s Monday –

When you are a creative selling on the weekend, your Monday is different from other people’s. You probaably didn’t have the weekend off to rest and rejuvenate. You were most likely working. Thus making the creative’s Monday different from everyone else.

Monday morning may see you heading back to your full-time job after working all weekend! Maybe Monday is a travel day for you. Heading home or driving to your next show. Perhaps Monday is the day you get back into your studio to create again.

Or is your Monday more like other people’s Saturday? Running around doing errands, catching up on your laundry, and checking things off your personal to-do list.

Whatever your creative Monday looks like, make sure you take a few minutes to track your expenses from your last show. You know, the ones you may forget in a couple of weeks. The water bottle you needed to purchase because it was so hot, or was it coffee because it was so cold?

Here is an example of the sneaky expenses I had from this past weekend in Florida.

I picked up my rental car, entered the fair address in the GPS, and was on my way. Only to find out I was on a toll road. An unexpected expense and one I would surely forget about at tax time since I live in a state where tolls just don’t exist. And then there was the water at the fair because holy smokes, it was steamy in Central Florida this weekend!

These items were paid in cash, so I can’t rely on my credit card statement to look up old expenses. And I don’t have receipts from either of them. 😬

I created a google spreadsheet to track these expenses, and I am sharing it with you.

There is no cost to download or use the document. It will help you track where you are spending money. It includes places for hotel, tolls, mileage, and other expenses you have while attending your fairs over the weekend.

And even better, there is a sheet for each fair, which will pull up to a front-page so you will have your show expenses at your fingertips when it is time to do your taxes!

Just make sure to do it sooner rather than later, so those unexpected cash items don’t get forgotten.

Click here to access your expense tracker. It is free to use and share. If you save it to your own Google drive, you will have it available to you while traveling. Please feel free to share it with other creatives as well. There is no cost to use or share it. (Please make a copy for yourself, so you don’t change the original.)

If you get value from it, please feel free to join The Art Fair Gallery community.

We are building a community for you to give or receive support from other artists. And when you fill in your artist information, you become searchable on the site by potential customers looking for you. Because you may not know it, but your customers from last year are trying to find you again this year.

If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to us at info@theartfairgallery.com.

Now that we have the expenses out of the way, it is time to create.

Getting past your creative Monday and onto the rest of your week. Make it a great one.
