The Other Art Fair Brooklyn

Presented by, the world’s leading online art gallery, The Other Art Fair is a global gathering of creative thinkers, game changers, and pleasure seekers sharing emerging talent and unforgettable experiences. Set against the backdrop of the world’s biggest cities, each of our fairs is different. This fair combines boundary-pushing yet always affordable works with immersive installations, DJs, performances, and the odd tattoo thrown in for good measure.

Art isn’t confined to convention or rule; how you enjoy it shouldn’t be either.

A place where art feels accessible, where everyone fits in, where the experience exists outside of four white walls and the same four artists?

That’s not normal. That’s The Other Art Fair.

BYENVENI Haitian Flag Day Curatorial Talk with Yvena Despagne & Artists

Haitian-American art curator Yvena Despagne will lead a discussion about *BYENVENI*, The Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institution (CCCADI)’s current multimedia exhibition celebrating contemporary Haitian Diasporic art.

This exhibition shines a spotlight on the creative expressions of eleven artists who focus on the theme of *Lakay* (translated as *home* in Haitian-Kreyòl), and explore Haiti as both a cherished internal sanctuary, preserving cultural traditions and religious practices, as well as an external haven, a space of refuge, familial and communal development, a source of boundless joy, and the cornerstone of sovereignty.

The Gift of Life: Art for a Life-Saving Match

Attention art enthusiasts and philanthropists!

We are thrilled to announce an extraordinary art show that combines creativity, community, and a noble cause. Join us for an unforgettable evening filled with stunning artwork, live painting, delectable food, and a mission to find a kidney donor.

This art show is a celebration of talent featuring over 20 incredible artists from various backgrounds and styles. From mesmerizing paintings to breathtaking photography, this event promises to ignite your imagination and leave you inspired.

Adding to the excitement, we have invited two talented live painters who will create masterpieces right before your eyes. Witness their artistic process unfold in real-time, as they transform blank canvases into stunning works of art.

But, this event is not just about art; it’s about making a difference in someone’s live. We are working to raise awareness for an individual, Vy Tran, as he is in his late stages of kidney failure and is in desperate need of a hero donor.

About Vy Tran:
Just before the pandemic hit I was diagnosed with end stage renal disease, essentially my kidneys stopped working. I’ve been on dialysis for the past 3 years or so and am currently on the transplant list (which can take years to find a donor). It’s been a very rough road till this point and a lot of it has to do with the physical and mental changes that come with all of this. But as of right now, I am in a good place and I am pushing forward as best I can.

On the bright side, my transplant surgeon says I’m a good candidate for a donor kidney but no amount of surgery will change my personality.

In addition to the mission, we are also giving back to the community and to the artists. As the holidays are closely approaching, booth space was provided free of charge to the artists allowing them to showcase their work with no overhead. As a gift to the community, food will be provided to attendees at no charge by Ruchi Bangladeshi during the duration of the show (while supplies last-food arrives at ~2:30pm) .

Free– ArtServe Mental Health Exhibit Celebrates Emotional Wellness Through Art

In an art exhibit entitled “Wellness Exhibition: Fostering Mental and Emotional Health—An Artist’s Journey Through Healing” that runs from Fri., April 14 to Fri., June 16, 2023, ArtServe will explore how artists apply various genres and mediums to convey different journeys of well-being, self-love and healing through their art.

A free, public opening reception is planned from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m on Friday, April 21. Admission is free to both the exhibit and reception.

ArtServe is located at 1350 E. Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

ArtServe curated the “Wellness” exhibit from local artists’ submissions. Entries also were welcomed from both adults and students in the eighth grade through college.

“It’s long been known in medical circles that art is a highly effective form of therapy that encourages non-verbal communication and healing when people are often unable to speak for whatever the reason,” ArtServe executive director Jason Hughes said. “Exploring self-expression through the outlet of various artforms can create a safe space that helps many embrace and sort through their own personal difficulties.”

According to the American Art Therapy Association, there are over 5,000 art therapists practicing nationwide who provide services for individuals, families, and communities through active art-making, creative processes, applied psychological theory and human experience within a psychotherapeutic relationship.

A solo exhibit entitled “Story of a Woman’s Journey” produced by Deborah Strelkow will run concurrently to the “Wellness” exhibit at ArtServe.

ArtServe inspires, supports and advances its diverse members, artists and community by promoting artistic development, education and prosperity through the exploration and presentation of the visual and performing arts.
