? Barbara Ballarini is an outsider artist born and raised in Italy. Since childhood she saw the surrounding world with different eyes. What for her family was just a simple piece of wood, for her was an enchanting figure of a woman or animal. She would have liked to create what she saw but the lack of education that surrounded her did not allow her to come out into the open. Sometimes derided and not understood, she left this need to express herself locked in a drawer. She was only 17 when she decided to escape from the chaotic and challenging environment that surrounded her to seek the beauty she saw in the world. That is when she managed to start creating art, that until then was a fantastic world locked in her mind. She came to America at age 30 to continue to develop her expression as an artist. Her art career as a livelihood recently began in 2020 when she decided to free her soul by following her true self. The roots of her childhood in the outskirts of Rome are represented through her use of found objects.
?????????Barbara Ballarini makes Outsider Art with an organic feel that she developed in solitude, giving her a style all her own. Her main focus is upcycling, using primarily objects directly from the sea. Seas around the world rejected these one-of-a-kind objects, including sea glass, having polished it to such a point that the beauty of the reflections of light propels her to capture and incorporate it into her pieces. She collects, and her studio is filled with wood, ruins of metal, feathers, and lots of oddities. This sculpture is made of many found objects. Each element has traveled from faraway lands, some with old stamps from different places around the world.
