DESCRIPTION:The Pensacola Beach Chamber of Commerce’s annual Art & Wine Festival will debut this spring for the first time in its 15-year history.\n\n\nThe Pensacola Beach Chamber of Commerce’s annual Art & Wine Festival is moving to spring time and will take place on Saturday\, May 11\, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. along the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk. \n“Our decision to shift Art & Wine to spring aims to spread the love around and spotlight our local artist community earlier in the year\,” said Meg Peltier\, president and CEO of the Pensacola Beach Chamber of Commerce. “Plus\, it’s just in time for Mother’s Day! So\, bring your mom along to enjoy the art\, music\, and wine selections or find the perfect gift for her from the variety of artworks available at the festival.” \nThe annual festival brings together dozens of local artists and more than 40 wine selections from distributor Kelley Beach Liquors.  \nCody Copeland will serenade the crowds from the Quietwater Beach Shell from noon to 4 p.m. The UkeLadies\, a ukulele performance group\, will also perform throughout the day. \nThe festival is free to the public\, however to participate in the wine tastings festivalgoers must purchase a ticket and receive a wristband. Wine tastings will begin at 1 p.m. and last until 4 p.m. only. \nAdvanced online ticket sales for the wine tastings are $40 per ticket and can be purchased through Thursday\, May 9. A select number of tickets will be available for purchase for $55 the day of the event. \nThe Chamber would like to extend a special thank you to Innisfree Hotels for their generous support as the title sponsor of this event. \nThe event takes place rain or shine.

DESCRIPTION:This Haitian Heritage Month\, the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI) invites you to experience Healing the Lakou: Community Wellness Through Haitian Traditions on Saturday\, May 11\, 2024\, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Gaia NoMaya in Brooklyn\, NY. \nWith the current events in Haiti\, the Diasporic community calls for strengthening itself through communal healing\, as is Haitian tradition. \nHealing the Lakou centers around fostering restoration and wellness within the African Diaspora\, specifically Haiti\, our freedom home. Lakou is a Haitian Kreyol term referring to a traditional communal living arrangement in Haiti\, where extended families or neighbors live in close proximity\, sharing resources and supporting one another. \nThe one-day wellness event will include dance and drumming workshops\, a guided yoga practice\, acupuncture treatments\, a sound bath\, a marketplace of vendors\, and a panel discussion followed by a Q&A. \nThe Healing the Lakou Panel Discussion\, moderated by Dr. Nathalie Guillaume\, will address various aspects of healing within the Lakou\, including physical health\, mental well-being\, social cohesion\, environmental sustainability\, cultural preservation\, and economic empowerment.
