DESCRIPTION:ArtServe is opening a new exhibit coinciding with the Veterans Administration’s 93rd anniversary called “Veterans:  A Family Perspective.”\n\n\nOn U.S. Veterans’ Administration 93rd Anniversary\, ArtServe Art Exhibit  Explores Challenges of Life After Military Service \nFriday\, July 21 Opening Reception Coincides with VA’s 93rd Anniversary; Monday\, September 11 Closing Day Pays Tribute to First Responder Veterans \n \nNinety-three years ago on July 21\, 1930\, the creation of the U.S. Department of Veterans Administration forever changed how Americans cared for our veterans after their active service was completed.   \nTo celebrate that commitment\, ArtServe is opening a new exhibit coinciding with the Veterans Administration’s 93rd anniversary called “Veterans: A Family Perspective.”  The exhibit concludes on Monday\, September 11 in tribute to first responders and other veterans of America’s worst terrorist attack.  \nThe exhibit officially opens with a free\, public reception on Friday\, July 21\, 2023 at ArtServe from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  ArtServe is located at 1350 E. Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.  \nArtist participation in the “Veterans” exhibit is open to all\, including veterans\, active-duty service persons and military family members\, whose artwork depicting the challenges of life after military service will be showcased.  \nTo view the Call to Artists with instructions on how to submit artwork\, click here. \n“As the fanfare of July 4 sunsets each year\, supporting our veterans remains a substantial daily need\,” ArtServe Executive Director Jason Hughes explained\, noting that this imperative was underscored by the June 9\, 2023 presidential executive order on “Advancing Economic Security for Military and Veteran Spouses\, Military Caregivers\, and Survivors.” “So much of the heartache and difficulty of reintegrating veterans into civilian life is borne by their loved ones. DESCRIPTION:Georgetown Plein Air Artist Registration July 28-29. 2023\n\n\nGeorgetown Plein Air 2023\nJuly 28-29\, Exhibit & Sale July 30-August 13\nSixth annual Plein Air event in vintage\, picturesque Georgetown\, Colorado\, 45 minutes west of Denver at 8\,500 ft elevation\, in the Georgetown-Silver Plume National Landmark Historic District. A charming town of colorful Victorian buildings ringed by mountain views\, Georgetown has long been a favorite of artists.  \nIncludes Quick Draw in historic downtown. Exhibit and sale through August 13. Registration and exhibition at the Old School (formerly Heritage Center)\, restored 1874 schoolhouse\, 809 Taos Street. Join us for this painting event in the summer mountain air! Open to qualified plein air artists.  \nAfter the registration fee is paid\, application information will be requested by email. \nEligibility \nAll fine arts mediums are acceptable\, using plein air technique. All artwork must be created outdoors on stamped canvas or other medium on July 28th or 29th within the defined area. Although not a juried entry process\, only qualified plein air artists are eligible for the exhibition and prizes. Payment must be made before application and acceptance. \nPlein air artists must submit a resume including exhibits and shows and three (3) images of plein air paintings in jpg format\, or a link to a website displaying their work in this genre. Submit by email to artschair@georgetowntrust.org.  \nExhibit and Sales \nAll artwork must be created outdoors on stamped canvas or other medium on July 28th or 29th within the defined boundary area. All fine arts media are acceptable. Indoor scenes or portraiture will not be eligible for inclusion in the exhibit or awards. Canvases and other medium will be stamped upon in-person registration. All works must be framed and prepared for exhibit with wire hangers or suitable hanging device and be ready to hang. Up to two (2) paintings will be accepted from qualified participants. If space allows a third may be accepted\, to be determined the day of the show. \nThis event is a fundraiser for the Georgetown Cultural Arts Program. GCAP will retain 40% of all sales. Commissioned pieces as a result of the event or exhibit will be subject to the same rate. Payment for all work sold will be mailed to artists no later than two weeks after the exhibit closing.
