Veterans during our inaugural  Holiday Bazaar and Jamboree from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.* on Saturday\, November 11\, 2023\, at Soulard Market Park in St. Louis\, Mo.  \nThis inaugural event will include free entertainment and activities for patrons of all ages. Bandstand line-up will include music\, dance and more – especially highlighting local students and acknowledging our veterans for their service.  All vendors are asked to offer a special discount or gift for  American Veterans (with ID).  NIC plans to offer a free beverage to our Veterans as well\, pending weather forecast – hot coffee/tea if cool or iced lemonade if warm.  \nTo support NIC and/or this fundraising festival\, visit www.NICStLMO.org to volunteer or donate. DESCRIPTION:Come check out a new exhibit by MOFA members (Missouri Fiber Artists) based on techniques taught by Ilza Aviks!\n\n\nCome check out a new exhibit of work by MOFA members (Missouri Fiber Artists) based on stitched and monoprinted mark-making techniques taught by artist and author Ilza Aviks!  \nOver the winter and spring\, a group of MoFA members participated in an online workgroup following workbooks created by Ilza Aviks. They did A LOT of stitching and print- making and idea testing. For the exhibit\, “X Marks the Spot\,” they chose  to include the symbol “X” in each work in some way\, and complete small works on stretched canvas. Some pieces are representative and some are purely abstract\, but you are sure to be inspired by the rich colors and textures on these dynamite “smalls!” \n** Guest artist Amy Firestone-Rosen’s metal scuptures perfectly complement these fiber works by exploring mark-making on aluminum and steel surfaces. This recent work pushes her earlier soft fiber art to the extreme!** \nExhibit and reception are free and open to the public. Please join us at the opening reception to meet the artists and enjoy music and refreshments.
